The BEEst garden
“The Beest Garden" is a citizen science project based in Lossiemouth, Scotland, that aims to enhance biodiversity research and conservation. Participants collect data on garden color and bee populations using a "bee's eye view" and time-lapse cameras. By uploading the data to the project website, the data generates hotspot maps that help guide plant layout decisions and provide pollinator education. The program strives to integrate community engagement with biodiversity conservation.

Brief:
The aim of this project is to co-design a citizen Science intervention with, and for, Scottish high school students. The contexts and stakeholders for the projects will be drawn from specialist organisations which focus on specific aspects of environmental protection and nature conservation.
This citizen science project provides the scientific basis for expanding ecological restoration through gardens to a wider area. Citizen science becomes a bridge between community action and ecological conservation.
